Brian Middleditch says : "Alpinia chinensis: a problem. Alpinia chinensis Roscoe is now Alpinia suishaensis Hayata but there was also an Alpinia chinensis Vidal (now Alpinia cumingii Schumann) and an Alpinia chinensis Franchet & Savat. (now Alpinia formosana Schumann). I would be tempted to leave it as Alpinia chinensis for the benefit of the horticulturalists, listing Alpinia suishaensis as a modern synonym. "
