The validity of both varieties (below) appears to be doubtful. Indeed some authors have even questionned the validity of this species. Until further investigation by taxonomists we let this compilation stand.

FRENCH :  Berle à feuilles en fer de lance.

SYNONYM(S) :  Apium sisarum (L.) Calest., Apium sisarum (L.) Calest. var. sativum Calest., Pimpinella sisarum Jess., Sium sisarum L. var. vulgare Alef.

SYNONYM(S) :  Sium floridanum Small

ENGLISH :  Ecuador water parsnip.
