Some of the synonyms for this species are not accepted by some Japanese scholars, but are rather attributed to var. sinensis. Given that there is disagreement on the synonymy, and that Japanese scholars recognize a number of forms of var. amoena, for the sake of clarity we are separating var. amoena from  var. sinensis .

RUSSIAN :  Скрученник приятный  Skruchennik priiatnyj.


Japanese scholars claim this taxon, generally integrated with other synonyms of S. sinensis, as the new name for Spiranthes australis (R. Br.) Lindl. rather than Spiranthes sinensis (Pers.) Ames, preferred by most western scholars. This creates a great deal of confusion in the synonymy.

This is generally integrated with other synonyms of S. sinensis.

This is generally integrated with other synonyms of S. sinensis.

This is generally integrated with other synonyms of S. sinensis.

JAPANESE :  アオモジズリ  Ao mojizuri

This is generally integrated with other synonyms of S. sinensis.

Spiranthes sinensis (Pers.) Ames var. sinensis

ENGLISH :  Okinawa spiranthe, Pink ladies' tresses, Pink-flowered Chinese spiranthes.

JAPANESE :  ナンゴクネジバナ  Nangoku nejibana.

These names are generally integrated into S. sinensis and if this is accepted  var. sinensis becomes superfluous. Japanese scholars however claim var. sinensis as a Japanese variety. A number of synonyms that we have placed under either S. sinensis or under S. sinensis var. amoena may be attributed to this variety. Until the species S. sinensis is reviewed the synonymy is too difficult to sort out.
