MULTILINGUAL MULTISCRIPT PLANT NAME DATABASE

(Permission to reproduce all photographs in this gallery received May 1997)

A smorgasboard of eggplants ranging from the pea-sized Asian wild varieties to the large-fruited traditional cultivars from Europe, Asia and Africa. Some of these fruits are bitter at any stage of their development but most are sweet, all are edible with the correct preparation.
