GERMAN : Antillenkirsche, Barbadoskirsche, Westindische Kirsche.

PORTUGUESE : Cerejeira das Atilhas.

SPANISH : Acerola, Buesito (Barbados), Cemeruco (Venezuela), Cereza, Cereza colorada, Cereza de la sabana, Grosella (Panama), Semeruco (Venezuela).

TAGALOG : Malpi.

SYNONYM(S) :
Malpighia biflora Poir., Malpighia punicifolia auct.

ENGLISH : Acerola,  Barbados cherry.

FRENCH : Awaiting feedback .

SPANISH : Escobillo.

THAI : Choeri (Bangkok).


 
Due to some former botanical confusion regarding M. punicifolia, some names applied to M. emarginata and M. punicifolia may apply to this species and vice versa.


Malpighia punicifolia L.

SYNONYM(S) : Malpighia glabra Millsp., non L.

ENGLISH : Native cherry, Garden cherry, French cherry.

FRENCH : Cerisier.

PORTUGUESE : Cerejeira.

 

 

The above names apply only in the West Indies. In other countries most names applied to M. emarginata may fit this species, now considered as a synonym of either M. glabra or M. emarginata (depending of philosophy).
