Notes

1. Some authors in Scandinavian countries (Sweden for example) use the name " Apium graveolens L. var. rapaceum (Mill.) Gaudich" instead of "Apium graveolens L. var. rapaceum (Mill.) Gaudin", so does the Department of Justice in Canada. Is this a valid name ? The authority "Gaudich." is listed by IPNI, so presumably this is a valid synonym.

2. Some authors apply the name "Ajamoda" (and all or part of its equivalents) from India to various species. In a sens this is not surprising given the shuffling of botanical names between Apium, Bunium, Cuminum and Trachyspermum that has gone on. There must be a final correct appropriation of names however.

Our searches suggest that the Bengali names " Randhuni " and "Shah jiiraa" are best applied to Trachyspermum roxburghianum (DC.) Craib. The Hindi name "Ajmud" (related to "Ajamoda") is best applied to Apium graveolens L.

So we guess that all the similarly-sounding names apply to these 2 species. Accordingly we have corrected our previous mistakes in all the above mentioned genera but we would like to receive confirmation of our decision. As is routinely done with Chinese romanised names we bold the names that we think are correct.
