This is an entry (Bot. name and synonym) in Mansfeld's database. The entry below is from GRIN, although in both cases the preferred names are in the genus Codiaeum. It is strange that 2 taxa should appear so close and not be synonymous. The above names came mostly from Asian countries, those below mostly from European sources. They do not appear to contradict each other so the likelyhood of all of these names describing a single taxon is very high. The question remains: which is the correct botanical name ? Codiaeum variegatum (L.) Blume  or Codiaeum variegatum  (L.) A. Juss. or Codiaeum variegatum  (L.) Rumph. ? The Plant List (Kew Bot. Gardens) accepts the later as the preferred name and places the former among the synonyms with a remaining little doubt. This is all I would need to blend the whole lot together but I wanted to highlight the oddities of nomenclature on the world scale and this is a good example.
