Note on some Arabic names

Some uncertain Arabic names applied to some above species may not be correct or misplaced. For example  عرف الديك   'Urf ed dik is most often applied to species of Celosia. For some reasons unknown to us it has been applied to Amaranthus caudatus and Amaranthus hypochondriacus as well. Not knowing the intricacies of the Arabic language we cannot judge if this is valid or not. On the other hand the taxonomy having been so confused in the last decades it could be that this is the cause of some miss-labelling. Help is needed with the following names.
كف المحنا
قطيفة  ذيلية    qTifa Thilia
 طنطور الجندي   Tantur el gindi
سالف العروس

Note on some French names

The gender of the name "Pariétaire" used on Reunion island is not always respected. Consequently adjectives may vary (ie. noir vs noire, piquant vs piquante etc.).
The expression "Brède malabar", applied to several species of amaranths, is also applied to at least 2 other plants from different genera : Basella alba & Sesbania grandiflora.
